You might be missing the point. It is not about obligations or any other kind of exchange. It is about liberating people from the existential angst. Pople will still work and provide services to eachother (for many reasons, including self-fulfilment), it is just that they won't be forced to do it. UBI has a good chance to remove exploitation from the system and create happier individuals, which is much cheaper on the long run.
