You are right on some accounts, but you completely miss the point when it comes to the big picture. At this moment, AI images or renderings (let's just call them that and leave the word Art aside) can easily replace stock photography and all other bullshit illustrations and decorations in most media. In fact, they already are. That is just one step away from creating something a bit more "real."
Now, I come from an architecture school, I took a lot of drawing classes myself (I was even teaching perspective drawing for 10 years), and I feel you. As a graphic designer, I worked with professional illustrators, and I can say that there is absolutely no comparison against any algorithm. But again, that misses the point.
The point is that this tech is a new tool for artists. It is not going away and we need to learn how to use it. In skilled hands, it can produce Art indeed!
