Yes, photos of kids are a special domain, because of the publishing rights. It is much less of a hassle to go for a stock option than to deal with releases yourself.

However, I have no idea how will this transition work the "free stock" images (like Unsplash or Pexels), because most of the contributors are amateurs who do it for the love of taking photos. Much like Flickr.
