Safe bets for the future of Homo Sapiens Sapiens

As it is becoming increasingly clearer that our society might already be past its peak and on the way to a slow collapse¹, it is worth considering who has the best chances of carrying on our genetic legacy into the future. That is if we don’t turn this planet into Venus first.

The rule of thumb is; the further away from civilisation, the better.

1. Indigenous tribes of jungle & savannah

The first on my list are tribes that had little to no contact with our civilisation. Their survival skills are second to none; they have detailed knowledge of hundreds of plants they daily use for food, medicine, tool-making, building shelters, small boats, and clothing. If we don’t fuck up their environment too much they probably won’t even notice we’re gone.

2. Nomadic tribes of Asia

They use some of the benefits of western civilisation and technology, although I wouldn’t go as far as to say they depend on it. Perhaps they have an old car, a moped, some basic clothing and tooling, or even a (smart)phone, but they could easily do without. Their modus operandi is still much more about resourcefulness than about the resources. If you ask them about the stock…
