To put in other words: if we are to solve this problem we need to find another high-density energy source that doesn't fuck up the planet (a tall order indeed), or an enormous redistribution of wealth coupled with a decreased consumption of most of us who can read this post. In yet another set of words: our problem is either technological or political/psychological. Which one is easier? Most of us are wishing for a miracle tech so we could continue our growth on one side and ridiculous consumption on the other, but that is a tough gamble to bet on. So we're left with the second option: how to convince people to let go and simply live with what's enough? Physically speaking the second option is a non-problem, but psychologically is probably insurmountable. I was thinking to put addiction therapists in charge, but it wouldn't do the job. Nature has to force it its way.
