Thanks. "Taking only as much as you need" is probably in line with ancient tribes or even Native Americans (or whoever was in touch with nature). People living in the arctic circle have nothing else to eat other than meat and fish, so let them, as long as it is done respectfully.

In that regard, the point about denial was not so much about lions and zebras but perhaps our own species. I was thinking about those hardcore preachy vegans who go to unrealistic extremes. There are vegan dog owners who feed their dogs with vegetables and whatnot. And I agree; it is a valid dilemma because all the pet food you can buy are probably scraps from industrial animal farming which are among the worst places you can imagine. Should I support that, should I go into all that trouble and cost of finding ethical meet, or is it better not to have a pet at all? I seriously don't know.
