Yesterday our TV ran news on the ill long-term effects of Covid (like 70% greater chances of stroke and heart disease), at the same time subliminally pushed agenda for reopening. WTF is wrong with these folks?

But I guess at least some of it has to do with our psychology. Research shows that people experience the same amount of "happiness" a year after becoming paraplegic or winning the lottery. It all flattens down to mean value. Google Daniel Gilbert on that. This drives our adaptability to circumstances and right now it is backfiring.
