I agree with everything, except for this paragraph. We've been listening to these promises since the invention of steam engine, yet that never happened. Sure, technologies did elevate the standard of living even for the majority of the poorest people, but in the end, they also grossly enlarged the differences between the rich and the poor, mainly due to greed of the latter. Technology does have a potential to liberate people from menial work and humiliating lives, but the problem is not in tech but in distribution of its benefits. These were never shared fairly and I have no doubt that this time around won't be any different. Rich will get insanely richer while masses will continue to helplessly live in shit with smartphones and ChatGPT in their pockets. The middle class, it it somehow survives, will have to dispose most of its income for subscription to these services, just to continue living and surviving. At the end of the day, every new tech puts human nature into higher gear (for better and for worse).
