Goddamnit, this hits close to home. I actually am (or was) a young architect, and I did explore this off-the-grid thing for the last couple of years, realising it is a dead end. I've learned gardening, medicinal plants, basics of energy production, wood logging, etc, but the problem is, that once you adapt this kind of lifestyle, it totally consumes you. The amount of manual labor involved completely blocks you from doing anything else in life. Basically, it is a rewind back to 16th century household, but hopefully with internet connection.

Our entire civilisation is based on a premise of labour division. You do the farming so that I can do the writing so that you can entertain yourself with reading my shit once you're done in the field. But I am not so sure this agreement can be executed sustainably. Not anymore.
