Spoiler alert: this review is intended for those of you who have already watched the show or read the book.

When I was a student all my geek friends were fanatic about Asimov’s Foundation series. You gotta read it!

So I ordered a copy from Amazon and was surprised how thin the book was. I expected a thick bible sized monster, but I kept an open mind and gave it a try.

It was boring, to say the least. I couldn’t understand what enthusiasm is all about. I even wondered if I ordered the right book, like, is this it? But I still gave it a benefit of the doubt. Maybe it’s just that my mint wasn’t in the right place when I read it.

When the latest TV version came out I was eager to check it out in hopes it would help me visualise what’s going on and aid my second reading of the novel. (It worked with Dune)

My expectations were high; this thing has an Apple logo on it. Apple was (and hopefully continues to be) a synonym for fanatical perfectionism when it comes to design and visuals.

In that regard, it did deliver. The production design is fabulous, for the most part, colours are well balanced on the screen and at best it looks like magic. I absolutely loved the brutalism of…
