Dear Monica, I see nothing wrong with your writing. In fact, I enjoy it. I really loved what you wrote here, and I found myself in it quite often, including the French language, which I'm currently learning.

However, I think we often take languages, writing, music, dancing (etc.) too seriously. The point of all these pursuits is to connect with other human beings and have fun while doing so. The side effect of the academic approach to this is that we develop an inner voice with which we punish ourselves for mistakes in grammar, rhythm, or pitch. Sure, those things are important, and there is some joy to be had in mastering them, but they should never be there to block us from reaching out to another soul. If we keep focusing on that, then I think a lot of weight falls down from our shoulders.
