Dear Mitch, this is just a small snippet, but I am building up a series of articles entitled “How To Feed the World,” check it out on my profile. I plan to write about regenerative agriculture one or two essays down the road. For now just this; nitrogen is fixed in soil with bacteria. The most effective way is by crop rotation in which every two or three years you plant legumes (beans, soy, or even clover) and let the field take a rest for a season. Animal manure is also an option. Many farmers do that, but of course, but at an industrial scale it is much easier to just drop chemicals.
