Are We All Drunk?
Covid-19 response and mild alcoholism are not that different
It is 2nd December, the beginning of actual winter here in Slovenia and we are blessed with the first snowy day. At the same time our Covid statistics are through the roof, especially mortality rates which are unfortunately the worst on the planet. And not just us, the entire Europe and United States are sharing a similar fate. Although there is some use in finding the causes one thing is clear: we fucked up.
Without going into too much detail about anti-Covid measures it is safe to say that Europe and USA are failing big time. The extreme version is being played out in Slovenia and I observe it closely; on the top level Corona crisis is being used for political gameplay, tribal warfare and plain corruption which makes a very bad example for the people to follow. They obviously happily take the lead and follow it through. Our nations are more divided than ever, conspiracy theories thrive and an alarming number of people are revolting against the health guidelines out of sheer caprice. There is also a lot of those who are just ignorant, who do systematically downplay the problem or are merely plain stupid.
