Although "the East" (presumably Russia & China with their satelites) can certainly canibalise the dying corpse of "the West" (presumably the EU & the USA), I don't think this has any future at all. They are still on the same planet with the same climate and it will catch up with them. Perhaps they can buy themselves a decade, maybe two, if the global warming progresses slowly enough, but in a more likely scenario we'll both fry in the same hot oven. If humanity survives it will be by the self-sustainable tribal peoples who happen to live within still bearable climate patches.
